Guwahati Book Fair to conclude today

GUWAHATI: The 33rd Guwahati Book Fair organised by Publication Board Assam at Assam Engineering Institute playground, Chandmari will conclude today. The book fair which began from December 30 witnessed a huge footfall of the book lovers. According to Publication Board Assam, books worth Rs. 1 crore were sold on Saturday, the penultimate day of the festival of books.

Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the concluding ceremony today.

Asom Sahitya Sabha President Dr. Kuladhar Saikia and Bodo Sahitya Sabha president Dr. Taren Boro will also attend the meeting.

On the other hand, on Friday evening, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal also visited the book fair.

CM Sonowal visited a few stalls and also bought books.

“Relived memories from my youth as I interacted with booklovers at the 33rd Guwahati Book Fair this evening. Books have the power to take us to new worlds and different times. I urge everyone to inculcate the habit of reading and transform your lives,” he tweeted.

The chief minister was accompanied by his media advisor Hrishikesh Goswami.
