GUWAHATI: In a sensational incident a youth has been murdered in Diphu under Karbi Anglong district on suspicion of stealing a chicken from a household.
The victim has been identified as Samir Sutradhar, a poultry trader. According to reports, one Jaysing Bey beat Samir to death on the suspicion of stealing a chicken on March 11. Jaysing brought the body on his four-wheeler and handed over to Samir’s family.
The family members of Samir cremated his body on March 12 without informing the police.
However, Diphu police arrested Jaysing Bey on Monday night when the incident had come to light. Police also seized the vehicle of the accused.
“We have arrested the main accused and interrogating him. There is a possibility of the arrests of several other people,” said a senior police official.
