We have kept our doors open for AIUDF in 2021: Tarun Gogoi

GUWAHATI: Former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi has said today that Congress has kept its doors open for Badaruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) to forge alliance for assembly elections in 2021.

“We have not discussed yet. But our doors are open,” said Gogoi.

Speaking on the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Assam, the former chief minister said, “We will talk to Ajmal. Then we will find a common candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections.”

Interestingly, when he was in power, former CM Gogoi had once ridiculed Ajmal asking, “Who is Badaruddin Ajmal?”

Meanwhile, leader of opposition Debabrata Saikia said, “Two seats will go to BJP. If we can field a common and unanimous candidate, we can win the third one. Our high command and Pradesh Congress leadership will discuss it with AIUDF.”
