GUWAHATI: Here are the key points from Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s press conference on Friday at Janata Bhawan:
》From Saturday, fifty percent of Assam government employees (barring those involved in essential services) will work from home. This will continue on rotation basis till 31st March.
》It will not be applicable to employees of health, electricity, water supply and other essential services’ departments.
》So far, all the total 57 samples from Assam have tested negative for Coronavirus.
》 Assam will be comparatively safe if there are no positive cases of Coronavirus disease till 5th of April.
》 16508 air passengers have been screened.
》1003 have been put on home quarantine.
》Shops, big or small who want to operate business will have to provide soap and water or sanitizer. Health inspectors will keep a check of these protective measures taken up by the shop owners.
》Govt will closely monitor crowded markets in Guwahati and other places.
》 Gathering in shopping malls will depend on the size of the malls. GMC will take a call on this.
》No standing passengers will be allowed to travel in city buses or private buses. Transport department officials will be on duty and will seize such buses
》 All government offices in Assam will ensure that there are proper facilities for sanitizing. Departments can make their own purchases without any tender.
》 Residents of Assam who have gone outside the country for various purposes and are not employed in those countries and are stuck there will be provided with $2000 in their account after proper verification. An email id will be created for communication.
》No exams including board exams will be held in Assam till 31st March. Strict action will be taken if any school conducts any exam till 31st March.
》 There will be no leaves for health department officials including the health minister.
》All incoming passengers to Assam from other states/countries by air, train or road will be stamped from tomorrow. Stamp will read as: “Assam needs social distancing, I volunteer to be in home up to next 14 days.”
