GUWAHATI: Guwahati has been witnessing rapid increase of COVID-19 positive cases in last few days. With the detection of COVID-19 cases, Kamrup (Metro) district administration has declared several areas of the city as containment zones.
Though 57 areas have been declared as containment zones, currently there are 36 active containment zones in Guwahati. Containment zone tag has been removed from 21 areas.
On Thursday Bauminimaidam, Birubari, Barsapa and Athgaon localities of the city were marked as containment zones.
Earlier, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that several COVID-19 positive cases with no travel history have been detected in Guwahati. He urged the city-dwellers to maintain utmost precautions.
