An Army officer employed at the Tezpur Four Corps headquarters has been arrested for allegedly being involved in a murder case.
The arrested army officer has been identified as Lt. Colonel Amrindar Singh Walia, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the defence unit.
Walia was arrested by Changsari Police in association with Tezpur Police in connection with the murder of a woman whose body was recovered from Changsari in Kamrup district on February 15.
The body was dumped near the National Highway 31 with police initially failing to establish her identity. However, after a thorough investigation, she was identified as Vandanashree, a resident of Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The arrested Army officer is a resident of Punjab and was allegedly in a relationship with the deceased.
Police investigators are now trying to piece together all the missing links and get to the root of the murder mystery.
It’s still unclear as to why did Amrindar Singh Walia kill the deceased or were there other accomplices who were also party to the crime.
