Students in Tezpur tie rakhi to trees, pledge to protect them on Rakshabandhan

Guwahati: Rakshabandhan, centres around tying a thread on the wrist, symbolising the brother sister bond, and a sense of caring and protection for each other.

But in tezpur a bunch of young boys and girls celebrated rakshabandhan in a unique manner.As part of an initiative by a NGO called UCI to protect the environment, young boys and girls tied rakhi to trees on either sides of the road promising them protection.

“Our initiative was reciprocated with full enthusiasm.We are very happy”.member of UCI told news live

“I will always try to protect the trees.They will be my friends for life”a student said.

Just like a brother promises to protect his sister no matter what situation arises, young individuals sent across promised to protect the environment and fulfill their green social responsibility.
