Situation in Guwahati may turn critical if lockdown not observed strictly, says Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has urged the residents of Guwahati to observe lockdown strictly which had started from Sunday night till July 12. He said that situation in the city may turn grim if the citizens do not adhere to the lockdown norms.

“The situation is going to be critical in the coming days. We have to become careful. Therefore, we have not issued any pass and have not allowed the grocery shops to operate. After seven days we may think over opening grocery and vegetable shops. But for first seven days, we have to observe lockdown strictly,” said Dr. Sarma.

He stated that among the COVID-19 positive cases detected in Guwahati on Sunday, 27 cases were from Indian Army. Remaining 130 cases were found among the city residents.
