Assam surpasses national record voter turnout among all Indian states that went for polling

In the recently concluded third phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024, spanning 94 constituencies across 12 states and Union Territories, Assam emerged with the highest voter turnout.

With approximately 81.61% turnout in the four seats contested, Assam showcased a strong commitment to democratic participation.

Uttar Pradesh, with 10 seats up for polls, recorded a turnout of 57.34 per cent in this phase, as reported by the Election Commission.

Polling commenced at 7 am and officially concluded at 6 pm, with many citizens enduring the heat to exercise their democratic rights.

Notably, voters in queues at polling stations were allowed to cast their votes even after the official closing time.

With the conclusion of Phase 3, half of the LS seats (283) have completed their polling, covering 20 states/UTs.

The election process concluded in Assam, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu on Tuesday.

However, the ECI reported an approximate voter turnout of 64.40% until 11:40 pm in Phase 3 of LS Elections 2024, reflecting a significant engagement of citizens in the electoral process.

Moving forward, the fourth phase of polling, out of a total of seven, is scheduled for May 13, with results slated for declaration on June 4.
