GUWAHATI: Sharjeel Imam who is facing sedition charges and has been brought to Assam for interrogation by the Assam Police had a secret meeting with a professor in Guwahati.
Sharjeel had maintained communication with this Guwahati-based professor and a few others. According to sources this was revealed by Sharjeel during his interrogation by the Assam Police on Friday.
Also, Sharjeel has been interrogated by top officials from various department for his seditious speech of cutting off Assam from the rest of India. The police is trying to find why he made such speech and who are with him.
Sharjeel has admitted of visiting Assam earlier. The police has not revealed the names of the people Sarjeel met during his Assam visit due to the ongoing investigation process. Sarjeel has made explosive revelations where he has given the names of persons who were involved in instigating violence during the anti-CAA movement.
On Sarjeel’s information a search operation was conducted by Crime Branch, Assam at the residence of a Delhi based journalist in Jorhat. The source also said that Sarjeel has agreed to cooperate with the Assam Police investigation.
Sarjeel Imam was arrested by Delhi Police from Jehanabad, Bihar and has been brought to Assam from Delhi for questioning.
