Sarusajai becoming nerve centre in fight against COVID-19: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: Assam Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday visited Sarusajai Sports Stadium Complex-turned quarantine facility in Guwahati to take a stock of the condition of people who came back to Assam within a few days.

Dr. Sarma took his official twitter handle to share the news. In his tweet he stated that the Sarusajai Stadium is becoming the nerve centre in the fight against COVID-19.

“Gradually Sarusajai Stadium is becoming a nerve centre in our fight against #COVID19. All inbound people to Assam are being screened here including obtaining their samples and then they’re being sent for quarantine from here. Visited the stadium to take stock of the situation”, tweeted Dr. Sarma

Sarusajai Stadium was turned in a COVID-19 quarantine centre in view of treating Coronavirus positive patients.

Recently, 391 students who were brought back from Kota to the state were quarantined in Sarusajai Stadium out of which 124 students were released yesterday.

This particular news was also shared by Dr. Sarma himself through his official twitter handle.

“Delighted to share that today 1st batch of 124 Kota students quarantined at Sarusajai stadium has been released after being tested negative for #COVID19. Visited the quarantine site along with officials to monitor their release process. Best wishes to these students.#AssamCares,” Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted after his visit to the quarantine facility.

 

Total COVID-19 cases in Assam now stand at 44. The latest case was detected in the Kokrajhar district.

The news was confirmed by Dr. Sarma himself. The infected person from Kokrajhar district had a travel history to Cooch Behar in West Bengal.

With this, the number of active COVID19 cases in Assam has risen to 11.

Out of the total 44 COVID19 cases registered in Assam so far, 32 patients were earlier discharged from various hospitals across the state after their recovery from the disease and one patient had died.
