Pride East CMD Riniki Bhuyan Sharma in India Today’s top 100 women achiever’s list

Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, Chief Managing Director (CMD) of Pride East Entertainments Pvt Ltd, has been featured in India Today’s The She List of top 100 women achievers of India.

Pride East Entertainments Pvt Ltd is northeast India’s biggest media conglomerate.

A gritty independent woman, Riniki Bhuiyan Sharma is so much more than just an entrepreneur.

She’s a lawyer by profession, an ex-tennis player who has represented Assam in the nationals and the head of the largest media house of the region with 2 news channels (News Live and North East Live), 3 entertainment channels (Rang, Ramdhenu and Indradhanu) and 1 Assamese newspaper (Niyomiya Barta).

Pride East Entertainments also has a women’s Assamese magazine- Aaina Jibonor.

Sharma, also heads not-for-profit organisations like Udayachal for the specially abled children and Sneha Bandhan for the under privileged children of the society, is ranked 51.

From media, in 2016, she moved to a socially conscious endeavour—the Golden Threads of Assam—which is aimed at not only preserving Muga, the trademark Assam silk, but showcasing it globally. 

In doing so, she has socially and financially empowered the women associated with weaving this indigenous thread. It’s this focus on women’s issues that motivated Riniki to start Aadya, a sanitary napkin manufacturing unit in 2018.

Last year, she ventured into the education sector by setting up Vandya International, the biggest school in the Northeast in terms of infrastructure. Now, she is all set to enter the hospitality industry by starting a luxury abode for nature lovers.

Born in Guwahati to a leading industrialist of the time, Riniki grew up within the business environs of the society. After completing her schooling from St Mary’s School, she went on to pursue her graduation and post-graduation from Cotton College, Guwahati.

She then pursued LLB and is currently enrolled in the Bar Council of India.

The coveted list of women achievers features Droupadi Murmu, President of India, Annapurni Subramaniam, Director, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Nigar Shaji, Project Director of India’s solar mission Aditya and Biotech superwoman Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw among others.
