GUWAHATI: On the occasion of International Day of the Girl Child on Sunday, Piramal Foundation, Barpeta in collaboration with Barpeta district Education Department of Assam observed the day by organising community discussions on gender role and discrimination of girl child in our society.
“With the spirit of this year’s theme, ‘My Voice, Equal Future’, some activity-based discussions were done among the participants to generate awareness regarding gender equality. Volunteers of the ‘Aalpna’ campaign which is based on the curriculum prepared by Emory University and His Holiness Dalai Lama, carried out the discussion in the community level. Niranjan Ojha (DPO) also took part in this occasion and highlighted various aspects of girl child rights,” stated in a press release issued by Piramal Foundation.
