Northeast gears up to fight deadly coronavirus; 30 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in India

GUWAHATI: Amid growing concern over the spread of Coronavirus in the country, the number of positive cases in India has risen to 30, including 16 Italians touring through Rajasthan.

While as many as 29 cases were detected on Wednesday, another case was detected in Ghaziabad on Thursday taking the total to 30.

With growing concerns over the rapid increase of positive Coronavirus cases reported in India, Sikkim Health Minister MK Sharma has appeal citizens to stay alert. He also informed that the state has already reviewed action plan against Coronavirus and suspended Inner Line Permits for the state till further notice.

Taking note of the gravity of the situation globally, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh said a 24*7 helpline number has been launched top assist anyone in need of help. Till date, over 55,000 people have been screened at the 5 checkpoints set up at the state and another few thousand have been screened at the airport.

Meanwhile, Authorities in Arunachal Pradesh are taking all necessary steps to combat Coronavirus menace in the state. Three quarantine centers have been set up in Namsai, Bomdila and Pasighat for keeping the people suspected to be infected by the deadly virus.
