Guwahati: R V Suchiang has taken charge as the new Chief Secretary of Meghalaya, becoming the first Khasi woman to occupy the highest executive seat in the state.
She replaced M S Rao who retired today.
A 1989 batch IAS officer, Suchiang was holding the post of Additional Chief Secretary in Meghalaya and was also in charge of Personnel & A.R, Cabinet Affairs, Finance, Home (Police) Departments.
She will also function as the State Vigilance Commissioner.
Meanwhile, Rao has been appointed as the Chief Commissioner of the State Public Service Delivery Commission.
