PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI: The Meghalaya BJP is all set to take up the vexed issue of interstate boundary row with Assam at the party level. This was stated by Meghalaya health minister and state BJP leader A.L. Hek.

Hek, however, said that the Assam BJP and party leaders are currently busy with elections and it will be difficult to get their time but as soon they are available, talks will be held on the issue.

He also stated here that they had discussed the issue and have decided to highlight it to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to Shillong on January 23.

A number of secretary-level talks and Chief Ministerial-level talks have been held on the issue over the issue and yet the solution remains elusive.

“There are claims from both sides- Assam and Meghalaya. Now there is no negotiation or discussion from party to party except the government to government. So under the leadership of Meghalaya CM, yesterday also we had a discussion particularly for the border issue in the CM’s office. We will take the matter to Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to Shillong on January 23rd,” said A.L. Hek.

“Due to the upcoming election, all are busy right now but we will discuss the issue with BJP Assam soon,” he added.
