Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve to open on October 21

GUWAHATI: Famous for its one-horned rhinos, the UNESCO world heritage site, Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve, will reopen for tourists from Wednesday (October 21).

The reopening ceremony has been scheduled at 11:00 AM on Wednesday and Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal is expected to be present in the ceremony.

Park authorities have informed the reopening through a Twitter post. Kaziranga National Park and Tiger reserve’s official Twitter handle posted,”BIG NEWS 21st October 11:00 am

Earlier this year, the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve was shut early for tourists due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is to be mentioned that the UNESCO World Heritage site is home to the greater one-horn rhinoceros. Kaziranga is also home to the highest density of tigers among protected areas in the world. The park is home to large breeding populations of elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer.
