Two MBA students were killed while two others injured in the Jorhat road mishap as eyewitnesses said the car came at breakneck speed and hit the divider
GUWAHATI, March 13: Eyewitnesses of the Jorhat road mishap in Pulibor said the car came at breakneck speed and was tossed into the air after hitting the road divider.
Two male MBA students of Kaziranga University were killed while two of their female classmates were injured, one of them battling for life at Mission Hospital, in the accident that took place yesterday (March 12).
The two deceased students have been identified as Mustafa Mujahid of Goalpara and Md. Afif Irfan Hussain of Jorhat.
The injured students are Khushbhu Novhal of Jorhat and Irina Boro of Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district.
The condition of Irina, who is undergoing treatment at Mission Hospital, is learnt to be very critical.
“The car was coming from Jorhat end and was being driven at great speed. It hit the road divider and was then tossed up into the air before falling into the service road in the direction of Jorhat,” an eyewitness told News Live today.
“The impact of the crash was so huge that three of the occupants were flung out of the car while only one occupant was found inside the car after the mishap,” he further said.
Another eyewitness who transported the injured to the hospital said while one of the two male students apparently died on the spot, the second student died on the way to hospital.
The ferocity of the mishap could also be gauged from the fact that shoes and a few other belongings of the deceased and injured students are still there around the accident site.
