GUWAHATI, March 13: Two Class 9 students from Guwahati, who skipped exams and fled home — apparently telling friends that they would go to Hyderabad — were brought back and reunited with their families.
The two students who had ran away from home after not sitting in their annual examination on March 7 were traced to Howrah where they were held by Kolkata Police after being tipped off by their counterparts in Guwahati.
A team from Guwahati Police went to Howrah and brought the two truants back to the city. The duo was reunited with their families at Noonmati Police station today (March 13).
Earlier on March 7, the two Class 9 students from Guwahati had gone to school in the morning to appear in their annual examinations. However, they did not return home forcing the two families to launch a desperate search for them.
After making some initial inquiries, the parents learnt that their wards did not appear in the examinations but told fellow students that they would be going to Hyderabad.
With the skeletal details in hand, and unable to get any clue about their whereabouts, the families lodged separate complaints at Noonmati Police Station and Railway Police Station at Paltan Bazaar.
After police launched an investigation into their disappearance, the duo was traced to Howrah where they were held by the local police after being tipped off by men in khaki here.
They were reunited with their families today.
