PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI: The toll of COVID19 patients in Assam has reached 26. Among the total 26, 25 patients are linked to the Tablighi Jammat of Nizzamuddin Markaz in Delhi.

As the number is increasing day by day, Golaghat, Goalpara and Nalbari districts have become the hotspots of COVID19 infection. Golaghat has reported total 9 positive cases which is the highest in the state. All of them attended Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin Markaz. The patients from Morongi, Dergaon and Merapani areas in Golaghat are being treated at Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital.

Fear has gripped the residents of these areas as the patients had concealed their travel history to Nizamuddin Markaz and came into contact with a number of people.

So far, three people from Goalpara district have been found positive for Coronavirus. They too had returned from Nizamuddin Markaz and came into contact with several other people in Goalpara. They did not inform the health department or any other concerned authority after their arrival from the hotspot of Coronavirus infection in India.

On the other hand, Nalbari has reported four COVID19 positive cases. These four people came to Nalbari from Uttar Pradesh for Jamaat. A group of 11 people reached Nalbari by train on March 21 for Tablighi Jamaat. First they were staying at a mosque. Later the 11 people shifted their stay at Mullapara Maktab. Four of them have been tested positive for Coronavirus. Mullapara has been declared as restricted area by Nalbari district administration.

Cachar, Lakhimpur and Karimganj reported one case each and all of them are related to Nizamuddin Markaz. All the patients from Morigaon district are also linked to Nizamuddin Markaz.

Panic has been ruling the air in these areas as most of the patients had continued to hide their travel history before they found Coronavirus positive. They came into contact with many people and did not inform the authorities about their visit to Nizamuddin Markaz.
