Ferry services plying between the Guwahati- North Guwahati in the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati will remain closed on Wednesday, informed by the Inland Water Transport department.
According to reports, the decision was taken in view of the unavailability of sufficient draught to ply the vessels from existing ghat points at Guwahati and to construct approach road and jetty.
Also, a decline in the water levels of the Brahmaputra River has caused problems in plying ferries across the river, it has been informed.
Keeping in mind, with several puja organising committees set to carry out their idol immersion programmes today also, coupled with the lack of jetties may have forced the suspension of ferry services.
