Guwahati: Assam CM lays foundation stone for Cycle Factory-Lalganesh flyover

In order to ease Guwahati’s traffic snarls, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the new flyover at the Cycle Factory Junction over Guwahati-Garbhanga Road.

The foundation stone was laid at the Cycle Factory junction by Assam CM along with state GDD minister Ashok Singhal.

Taking to X CM Sarma wrote, “Attending Foundatiaon Stone Laying Ceremony Of New Flyover At Cycle Factory JuncTion over Guwahati-Garbhanga Road.”

Addressing the gathering during the foundation stone laying ceremony today CM Sarma said, “The three-lane flyover will be 2.84 km long and RCC drain will be channelled on both sides of the flyover. The total cost that will be incurred for the construction work is Rs 374 crores and we aim at completing it in less than three years.”

The CMO office also took to X and wrote, “In yet another step towards decongesting Guwahati HCM Dr@himantabiswa laid the foundation stone of a new flyover at Cycle Factory junction in Guwahati. HCM also inaugurated developmental projects worth ₹14.67 cr that includes 24 public toilets, 31 community buildings, 17 cremations, and 2 burial grounds.”

The 2.84 km long flyover to be built at a cost of Rs 376 crore will cover Cycle Factory, Barsapara and Lalganesh Market Junctions and ease connectivity in the Guwahati Garbhanga Road.

The starting point of the flyover will be from the junction point after Arya Nagar flyover and the end point will be beyond Lal Ganesh market.

Post the completion, the flyover will connect to major landmarks such as ITI Guwahati, NH 27 (Lokhra), Kahilipara, Barshapara Stadium, GMCH, B Barooah Cancer Institute, Arya Vidyapeeth College among others.
