Gulab Chand Kataria takes oath as the 31st Governor of Assam on Wednesday at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati.
Kataria took oath in presence of Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and other dignitaries.
Kataria, a resident of Udaipur in Rajasthan, has succeeded professor Jagdish Mukhi, who demitted from office on February 19 after completing his term as Governor of Assam.
Kataria a resident of Udaipur, Rajasthan was the former home minister of Rajasthan and a leader of opposition in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly prior to his appointment as the Governor.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media earlier, Kataria said he will fulfill the constitutional responsibility given to him.
“I will fulfill the constitutional responsibility given to me by Prime Minister Modi and our party in such a way I will live up to the expectations of the high command and the Prime Minister,
