GUWAHATI: Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog will table the state budget today for the financial year of 2021-22.
This is the first budget of CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government in Assam. The new government was formed in May.
Ajanta Neog is the first woman finance minister of the state.
The first budget of Assam in independent India was tabled by Bishnu Ram Medhi. It was tabled on March 11 in 1948.
Medhi was the finance minister in Gopinath Bordoloi’s government.
