GUWAHATI: Electric Train Services will start in Assam from March 2021 informed Northeast Frontier Railway PRO, Nripen Bhattacharyya.
The new electric trains will run from New Bongaigaon Station to Rangia Station.
“Electrification in NFR Railway has brought good news for the state. On 10 February the electrification works were completed and the first-ever electric goods train arrived in New Cooch Behar.
Now the work is going on to connect New Cooch Behar station in West Bengal and New Bongaigaon Station in Assam and the electrification work from New Bongaigaon Station to Rangia Station will be completed by March month,” said the PRO.
“Later, the electrification will continue from Guwahati to Lumding and then Lumding to Dibrugarh.
These trains will be faster and will be beneficial for the passengers as it will take less time to reach the destination,” Nripen Bhattacharyya further said.
