GUWAHATI: As appealed by prime minister Narendra Modi, the people of Assam along with the rest of the country are observing ‘Janta Curfew’ from 7 AM today. Most of the busy streets of Guwahati and other parts of the state have become completely empty as the citizens are responding to the prime minister’s call to stay at home to check the outbreak of Coronavirus.
Public transport service has been suspended across the state as several transport associations have extended their support to ‘Janta Curfew’. Privates and buses under ASTC have also been kept off-road. Shops and business establishments put shutters down becoming a part of nationwide fight against Covid-19. On the other hand, Indian Railways cancelled 245 trains in order to restrict unnecessary travel due to the coronavirus outbreak.
However emergency services are continuing their operation keeping in mind the public interests.
