GUWAHATI: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora has accused Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal of being involved in the Assam Police Sub Inspector recruitment scam and demanded his resignation. Charging the state government, the APCC president said that no action has been taken against State Level Police Recruitment Board of Assam former chairman Pradeep Kumar who has resigned. The total recruitment process is under the strict control of the chairman, then how did the question papers got leaked, questioned Ripun Bora. The chairman is directly answerable to the chief minister and it indicates that Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal is involved in the scam.

“The party that was involved in conducting the examination was hired on the reference of the chief minister. When the other party contested in the High Court, the court gave a stricture to chairman (Pradeep Kumar) that disciplinary action should be taken against him. But the chief minister did nothing and later Kumar after his retirement appealed in the court and got away. As per our sources, CM Sarbananda Sonowal is involved in the paper leak case,” said APCC President Ripun Bora.

Bora added, “On October 5, we will protest in front of SP office in every district of Assam.”

Ripun Bora also stated that corruption has taken place in various departmental recruitments, including in the Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) that is headed by CM Sarbananda Sonowal.

“For a single job opening almost 5000 candidates applied for the post in Directorate of Information & Public Relations of Assam and of all deserving candidates BJP leader Diban Deka’s wife was selected for the post. According to our sources, she produced the experience of 7 years from ‘Sokalbela’ newspaper but the main point is that at that time the newspaper was only 18 months old. Also, Diban Deka was the publisher of the newspaper. So, this is how we can understand that various scams are going on and Assam CM is directly involved in these scams. The CM should resign immediately,” said the APCC president.
