Breaking: All schools, colleges, universities in Assam to remain shut till March 29

GUWAHATI: Amid growing Coronavirus fears, the Assam government has announced closure of all the educational institutes till March 29. The immediate shut down will be effective from tomorrow.

The government has also asked cinema halls, gyms and swimming pools to remain shut to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. 

The decision to shut down all the establishments including schools, colleges and universities has been announced by the chief secretary of Assam government Kumar Sanjay Krishna. However, there will be no postponement of examinations under CBSE and state boards. 

Addressing a press meet in Guwahati, chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna informed that the state government had taken all the necessary steps to prevent the outbreak of Coronavirus in Assam. More than 100 isolation wards have been set-up to deal with the situation, Sanjay Krishna told media persons.

Earlier, the state government asked the educational institutes not to organise morning assemblies or exhibitions as a preventive measure to contain Coronavirus.
