Assam police seized drugs worth over Rs 4 crore

Guwahati: Assam Police has been continuing its war on drugs. In another successful operation, the Assam police intercepted an interstate consignment of drugs at Jorabat and seized 660 gms Heroin worth over Rs 4.5 crore.

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma appreciated the police for this big haul of drugs.

Taking to his Twitter CM Sarm wrote, “#AssamAgainstDrugs Kudos @assampolice as you continue to tighten the noose around drugs mafia. This morning, Police intercepted an interstate consignment of drugs at Jorabat and seized 660 gms Heroin worth over Rs 4.5 cr in international market & arrest 2 so far. Good”.

 

Promising to intensify the crusade against the trade in illegal drugs, the Chief Minister said that drugs are mostly smuggled from Myanmar making Assam a transit route. Sarma, who also holds the home portfolio, said his government will maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards the illegal drugs trade as hundreds of youths are being led astray in Assam with the abuse of various drugs.
