Assam: Inter-district travel open for 2nd day

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has allowed the inter-district movement on July 30 and 31. Inter-district travel was suspended in the state from July 22 in the view of COVID-19 pandemic. On the 2nd day of opening the inter-district travel, many people from Guwahati have been travelling to their home districts ahead of Eid-Ul-Adha on August 1. 

Meanwhile, the vehicles have been asked to carry only 50 per cent passengers of their total seat capacity. The passengers are also asked to follow all the COVID-19 protocols including maintaining social distance, wearing masks etc.

COVID-19 screening of inter-district travellers is being done at various places of the state.

The health department has arranged rapid antigen tests for the passengers travelling from Guwahati on National Highway 17 at Dhupdhara in Goalpara district. According to reports, two passengers have been detected with COVID-19 at Dhupdhara.

“We are travelling from Guwahati to Goalpara. It is a good step to control COVID-19,” said a passenger while he was waiting to get his test done.
