ASSAM: How to travel on 25, 26, 27 April by ASTC buses

GUWAHATI: Assam Government will allow inter-district movement on 25, 26 and 27 April as many people are facing hard times due to the ongoing COVID19 lockdown across the country.

Due to the sudden lockdown, people are stuck at different places within Assam. So the state government has decided to allow returns to home districts on these three dates. Those wanting to travel during this period have to take prior approval from their respective Deputy Commissioners.

People who have their own vehicles can apply for an e-pass that will allow them to travel to their native places. Those who want to use public transport can do so through ASTC (Assam State Transport Corporation) buses. They can call at 104 and register themselves to avail the facility.

Speaking to News live, ASTC MD Anand Prakash Tiwari said, “There are a few criteria that people who want to travel will have to follow. Those who have their own car and want to travel must apply for epass and this epass will be provided by the respective Deputy Commissioners. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) will provide the pass on case to case basis and it will be issued for one-way movement.”

“In case of stranded laborers, industry or the firm owner under whom the laborers work must book the vehicles and inform DC office about their travel requirement. Accordingly, the DC office will allow their movement and then they may drop the laborers to their native places. On the other hand, students or general public who are stuck in their relatives place due to various reasons and want to return to their home can apply for the same,” said Anand Prakash Tiwari.

“There is no reason to panic as each and every person who contacted us will be replied back. People who will be allowed to return to their native places on 25th April will get all the information regarding their travel by 24th April,” Tiwari added.
