Guwahati:  After the unprovoked firing by Naga miscreants on Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma sent Special DGP G P Singh to Disoi Valley to investigate the whole incident. DGP Singh on Friday visited the site along with the SPs of Assam and Nagaland and reviewed the whole situation.

Speaking to News Live DGP GP Singh said, “After the incident took place I was asked by CM Sarma to come here and investigate the whole matter. A case has been already going on in the Supreme Court regarding the Disoi Valley land encroachments. We had an extensive discussion on encroachment by people of Nagaland in the reserve forest in violation of protocols of the Supreme Court. Nagaland representatives have been strongly advised to disengage from the area immediately.”

Singh also added, “On Sunday there should be a meeting with the SP and magistrate including all the officials regarding all the issues of Disoi Valley land encroachments.  I have asked them to come up with a solution as to how to deal with the situation. A case has been registered by MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi against the miscreants that should be investigated by the SP of both the states immediately”.

“Inputs about encroachment and violation of Supreme Court orders would be reported to the Government of Assam formally by DC and SP immediately. In the next 48 hours, we need to submit a report of the investigation to enable the government of Assam to take lawful recourse. The Nagaland SP and Magistrate have agreed to abide by the Supreme Court orders for now and after the meeting, we will decide the course of action,” said GP Singh.
