GUWAHATI: In the run-up to Assam assembly elections, senior BJP leader and Assam finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday took part in a bike rally in the Behali constituency. The rally in favour of BJP candidate and minister Ranjit Dutta received massive support from the party workers and local people.
Later attending a public meeting, Sarma took a potshot at opposition Congress and AIUDF.
Sarma said by forging an alliance with AIUDF, Congress has isolated themselves from the mainstream people of Assam for 50 more years.
“By aligning with Ajmal, Congress has isolated themselves from the mainstream people of Assam for another 50 years,” the NEDA convenor said.
“Our entire issue is how can you align with Mr. Ajmal? You can’t have a migrant Muslim who has not yet adopted Assamese culture fully. Give me a single instance where you have seen Mr. Ajmal in Bohag Bihu,” Sarma asked.
