Assam Elections: Amit Shah to campaign on March 14, 15

GUWAHATI: In the run-up to Assam assembly elections, Union home minister Amit Shah will address two election rallies in the State on Sunday (March 14). Shah will address the rallies in Margherita and Nazira.

He will then leave for West Bengal.

“Hon’ble Union Home Minister & Senior BJP leader Shri Amit Shah will hold a grand road show in Kharagpur in West Bengal at 05.15 in the evening tomorrow.

Next day on 15 March 2021, Shri Shah will address a public meeting in Jhargram (West Bengal) at 11:00 am. After this, he will address another public meeting in Ranibandh (West Bengal) at 01:00 pm,” the Bharatiya Janata Party said in a press release.

Shah will also address a town hall programme in Guwahati at 5.30 PM on March 15, the press release added.

On the other hand, defence minister Rajnath Singh will address four rallies in Biswanath and Golaghat districts on Sunday.

Singh’s two of these rallies will be in tea gardens and one in Gohpur, a historical place connected with the Quit India movement.

The defence minister will address a rally at Sadharu tea estate and another at Dafflaghur tea estate under the Biswanath constituency from where BJP candidate Pramod Borthakur is seeking re-election, the sources said.

His third rally will be in Gohpur for BJP candidate Utpal Bora, who is contesting against Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president and Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora.

The defence minister will address a rally at Dergaon in Golaghat district where he will campaign for the BJP’s Assam ally AGP candidate Bhabendra Nath Bharali.
