Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister D. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday visited Biswanath and Lakhimpur districts. CM Sarma in the morning visited Behali Kali Mandir and offered prayers at the feet of Maa Kali for the well-being of the people of Assam.
Taking to his Twitter CM Sarma wrote, “Offered prayers at the feet of Maa Kali at the historic Behali Kali Mandir for the well-being of the people of Assam. Believed to have been set up to save our society from scourage of cholera, people began worshipping the idol at the temple in 1913 after the epidemic was over.”

After offering his prayer CM Sarma visited one Anganwadi Centre at Behali and interacted with children. He also distributed dry rations to children.

Accompanied by former minister Ranjit Dutta and MP Pallab Lochan Das, the Chief Minister also visited flood and erosion hit Batiamari area.
Later, he is scheduled to visit the residence of freedom fighter Kanaklata Baruah and pay floral tribute to the statue of Kanaklata.
Mr. Sarma would also hold two public meetings at Borganag and Gohpur.
