GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday reviewed flood management in the state with water resources department.
The review meeting was attended by minister Pijush Hazarika and top officials of the department.
The chief minister asked to undertake maximum works possible within this month to minimise flood damage.
“Directed to identify vulnerable points and undertake immediate works. Also asked the dept to identify the rivers that create maximum havoc and examine feasibility of dredging to minimize damage,” tweeted chief minister office.
The CM suggested fundamental shift in the department and directed to prepare a draft prospal to ensure quality and timely completion of projects.
“Also directed to develop an accountability mechanism to ensure judicious utilization of govt. money,” stated in a series of tweets.
