Assam: 2,837 New COVID-19 Cases, Positivity Rate At 5.69 %

Guwahati: A total of 2,837 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Assam on Tuesday (January 11).

Among the new cases, the highest number of cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (870), Jorhat (215), Cachar (189) and Dibrugarh (170).

The new cases were detected out of 49,840 tests that were conducted during the day.

The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 5.69% per cent on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, two new COVID-19 related death were reported in the state during the day.

According to NHM Assam, the fresh fatality were reported from Nalbari (1) and Sonitpur (1).

Further, 449 patients recovered on January 11. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 97.34 per cent.

Earlier on Monday (January 10), 2,198 COVID-19 cases were reported in the state including 760 cases from Kamrup Metro district. The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 4.49% on Monday.

In the last 10 days, Kamrup Metro district has reported 4,189 new COVID-19 cases.

According to data released by NHM, Assam on 11th January, 6,31,776 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State so far. Out of which, 6,14,991 patients have recovered, while 6,185 patients passed away.

The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 9,253.

Over 2.69 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state so far.

As many as 3,94,62,546 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Assam so far. This includes 2,27,84,898 persons administered with the first dose and 1,66,57,683 administered both doses of the vaccine.

From Monday (January 10), India has begun administering the precautionary dose of Covid-19 vaccine to health and frontline workers, and people aged 60 and above with comorbidities.

So far, 19,965 precautionary dose of Covid-19 vaccine were administered in Assam.
