Assam: 16 houses gutted in Tinsukia slum fire, no casualties

At least 16 houses were gutted in a massive fire that broke out at a slum in Assam’s Tinsukia on Tuesday night, officials said.

The incident took place at the Raja Ali Adarsh Path slum area at around 10.30 pm in the Tinsukia.

The fire, which started from the house of one Vishwanath Mahato, is suspected to be ignited by an electrical short circuit, sources stated.

However, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

Meanwhile, properties worth several lakhs are believed to have been damaged in the fire, sources added.
