GUWAHATI, Dec 12: The Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell (CM’s SVC) on Tuesday raided the residence of ACS officer Sukanya Borah in connection with alleged siphoning of money relating to Ajit Kumar Bhuyan’s MP Local Area Development Fund.
Raids are being conducted at the Gandhi Basti residence of Ms Borah, who was serving as the Additional District Commissioner (ADC) of Kamrup (Metro) prior to her suspension earlier this year.
The Assam CM’s SVC had lodged an FIR against Rajya Sabha MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan, four ACS officers and nine others for alleged misuse of MPLADS funds. The move came after residents of Rangia in Assam’s Kamrup district alleged embezzlement of funds in construction of three roads by the Rajya Sabha MP.
Incidentally, the Gauhati High Court had in May dismissed Sukanya Borah’s anticipatory bail plea.
