GUWAHATI: The Assam government has undertaken a mega project to develop Batadrava Than like the famous Golden Temple in Amritsar.
A fund of Rs. 155 crore has been already earmarked for the ambitious project to develop Batadrava, the birth place of Srimanta Sankaradeva, as an ideal place of religious and cultural tourism.
Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam finance, health and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate the project shortly. Preparations are going on in full swing for the inaugural ceremony of the much-anticipated project.
“We would like to thank CM Sarbananda Sonowal, minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and local MLA Angurlata Deka for the project,” said a resident of Batadrava.
“We are really happy. We hope, it will foster the development of Batadrava,” said a local woman.
Assam CM Sonowal and finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma have been emphasising their commitment to develop Batadrava, the birthplace of Srimanta Sankardeva into a magnificent tourist destination.
“I offer a solemn commitment on behalf of the people of Assam, to transform Batadrava Than in Bordowa, the birthplace of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva, by enhancing the grandeur and magnificence par excellence,” said Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma while addressing the Independence Day programme at Morigaon this year.
