GUWAHATI: Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP of Tezpur Lok Sabha Constituency Ram Prasad Sharma joined Indian National Congress today in New Delhi. The former senior BJP leader joined Congress in presence of Ex-Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi and Congress general secretary KC Venugopal.
Sharma who denied a BJP ticket in last general election expressed his resentment saying that the old workers of BJP were neglected in the party. He quit BJP in March, 2019 ahead of Lok Sabha poll.
“I would like to thanks Tarun Gogoi sir and Ripun Bora da. It was Tarun Gogoi who encouraged me to join Congress,” Sharma said.
