GUWAHATI, Dec 6: A six-year-old elephant calf was injured after it was hit by a goods train at Chakardoot near the Deepor Beel on the outskirts of Guwahati early Friday morning.
The elephant was hit by the train after it got separated from the herd that had come down to the water body early in the morning.
The injured elephant has now moved into the nearby forests.
A team of Forest officials and veterinarians are trying to provide medical assistance to the injured calf.
