GUWAHATI, Nov 27: Eminent flute exponent Dipak Sarma, who underwent a liver transplant surgery, is in severe financial distress and has taken to the social media, appealing people for help and support.
Sarma had undergone a liver transplant in New Delhi in April last year after suffering from life-threatening liver ailments and is currently recuperating.
“There have been no invitations to perform for many days and as such I am facing a severe cash crunch. I will remain indebted to people who would offer me some help financially. Those who can afford may kindly pay me through GPay at my number 9864055400 or at the bank account no. 30509214515 (IFSC Code: SBIN0007202),” he wrote on Facebook.
The eminent flautist, meanwhile, told News Live that he requires a protien-rich diet after his surgery and is now facing it difficult to adhere to the guidelines doctors had prescribed following his poor finances.
He said that he has received support from the Chief Minister’s office along with help from other people. However, in the absence of a regular income and high post-surgery diet and medicinal schedule, it has been very difficult for him and his family to make ends meet.
Dipak Sarma has therefore appealed to Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma to provide him with a job his health will permit him to take so that he can meet with his medical and family expenses.
He also requested cultural activists and musical show organisers to invite him to perform in events which will also help him financially.
