GUWAHATI: Main accused of Ajit Das kidnapping case, Kanwaldeep Singh Sidhu was killed in a police firing when the accused tried to snatch a gun from a police personnel. He was arrested by Assam Police on Friday in Karbi Anglong.
Sidhu was an ex-inspector in the Railways Protection Special Force and was suspended in 2013 after he was found associated with a number of illegal works. It is to be mentioned that Sidhu was involved in illegal arms smuggling from Nagaland to other states of India.
“One Kanwaldeep Singh Sidhu main accused of recent kidnapping of one Ajit Das from guwahati was apprehended today. However, during travel he snatched a police weapon and fired. In retaliatory fire he has been grievously injured and taken to hospital,” Tweeted Assam Police Special DGP, GP Singh.
