GUWAHATI: Three Police personnel have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a businessman in Guwahati. The three culprits are– Babu Singh, constable of Fancybazar PS, Jiten Bailung, constable of Assam Forest Protection and Suruj Patar, Homeguard of Jagiroad PS.
On 23 June, a city-based businessman Ajit Das was kidnapped from his residence at Paltanbazar railway colony by a group of people. Later, Ajit’s family member filed an FIR(no-217/21) regarding the kidnapping at Paltanbazar Police Station.
A Latashil Police team and the CID, Assam Police tracked the last location of the businessman’s mobile phone and rescued Ajit from Jagiroad area where he was held captive.
It is to be mentioned that the kidnappers demanded an amount of Rs. 20 lakhs from Ajit’s family.
Panabazar Police are currently questioning the three kidnappers and more details will come to light soon, informed the investigating officer.
