GUWAHATI, Dec 15: Amid the ongoing protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, singer-turned-filmmaker Zubeen Garg on Sunday hinted at forming a new political party in Assam.
The significant announcement by Zubeen was made during the unique protest against the act by singers, artistes and film and cultural personalities at the Assam Engineering Institute playground in Guwahati today.
Incidentally, AASU president Dipanka Kumar Nath, who along with other senior AASU leaders including chief adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya and general secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi had extended support to the protests by the artistes fraternity, was stressing the need for an alternative political party or forum in the wake of the recent developments.
It was at this time when Zubeen came forward and said: “We will form a new party”.
