Won’t accept CAB, protests will continue: AASU leadership after meeting with Amit Shah

GUWAHATI, Dec 3: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) Tuesday said that it will continue to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. The AASU leadership said this after their meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.

AASU chief adviser Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharjee, president Dipanka Kumar Nath and general secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi said after the meeting with the Union Home Minister that AASU will never accept anything that violates the historic Assam Accord.

Amit Shah is holding consultations with representatives of nine student bodies of Assam so as to allay fears surrounding the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill.

Besides the AASU leadership, the Union Home Minister is meeting representatives of the AJYCP, ATASU, ATTSA, Koch-Rajbangshi Sanmilani, AKRSU, Chutia Students’ Union, Moran Students’ Union and the Mottock Students’ Union.
