GUWAHATI: With 777 new COVID-19 positive cases, Guwahati recorded biggest single-day spike on Saturday. The city has already been placed under a 14-day lockdown till July 12 as COVID-19 cases have been spurting.
On Saturday Assam recorded total 1202 COVID-19 cases. Out of these, 777 cases have been reported from Guwahati alone.
Among the new cases, majority are with no travel history which raises the concerns over community transmission in the city.
The authorities have been appealing the citizens to observe total lockdown strictly.
Expressing apprehension over the COVID-19 situation, a resident said, “There is no alternative to lockdown. We should strictly follow all the rules. Guwahati is now under critical condition”
