Wearing gloves can become dangerous: Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta

GUWAHATI: “Don’t wear gloves at any time. It can become dangerous. It is necessary to immediately dispose the gloves after using it once,” said Assam director general of police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta on Monday.

Talking to media persons Mahanta said that rather wearing hand gloves, it is important to frequently wash the hands or sanitise it to prevent the infection of COVID-19. DGP Mahanta maintained that it is not necessary to use hand gloves at any time.

“One should use gloves when he comes into contact with a COVID-19 infected or a suspected person,” said Mahanta.

He also warned that police will register criminal case against those who do not dispose the Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) properly.  He urged everyone to ensure safe and scientific disposal of PPE kits.

DGP Mahanta also stated that police has informed deputy commissioners (DC) about the shops and business establishments not maintaining social distancing norms. Respective superintendents of police (SP) provided information to the DCs to take action against such shops.
