Veteran Communist leaders Drupad Borgohain, a former Rajya Sabha MP who was also elected to the Assam Assembly from Nazira assembly constituency, passed away at a private nursing home in Dibrugarh early Wednesday morning. He was 77.
Borgohain was suffering from kidney-related ailments, doctors said.
He was a Rajya Sabha MP from 1998 to 2004 and was also elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly from Nazira in 2004. He was also a former secretary of the Assam state council of Communist Party of India (CPI).
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Finance, Health & PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and politicians cutting across party lines mourned Drupad Borgohain’s demise. (NL Web Desk)
